Spicy Mushroom & Chicken Buns

Description

Fluffy buns stuffed with a spicy mushroom and chicken filling that’s packed with flavour and heat. Perfect for brunches, snacks or bake sales — and yes, they freeze beautifully too!

Instructions

  2. While the dough rests, marinate chopped chicken in salt, pepper, and lemon for 10–15 mins.

  3. Mix sauce ingredients in a bowl — adjust taste and thicken with cornflour if needed. Set it aside.
  1. Sauté mushrooms in 1 tsp oil till browned and dry.
  1. Add remaining oil, cook marinated chicken till done and water evaporates.
  1. Add garlic, ginger, chilli flakes and chilli paste.
  1. Toss in onion, capsicum, green chillies — cook 3–4 mins till soft.
  1. Pour in sauce, cook till thick and saucy.
  1. Taste, adjust salt, and finish with lemon juice.
  1. Fill buns and rest the buns for 20 minutes. After, egg wash, top with sesame seeds.
  1. If you are using the Panasonic NN-DS59 4-in-1 convection microwave oven, preheat and pop the grill tray to top shelf and bake for 180 degrees for 15-20. Alternatively, bake at 180 degrees in a conventional oven for 15 to 20 minutes.
